Golf Tournament Benefiting Troops Raises $58,000
Iron Construction's Annual Charity Golf Classic Exceeds Fundraising Goal
SAN JOSE, CA, October 1, 2007 -- For the third year in a row, Iron Construction, Inc. donated the proceeds from its Charity Golf Classic to the American Red Cross' Operation: Care and Comfort program. The tournament was held on Tuesday, September 18th, at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San José. The Operation: Care and Comfort program provides support and comfort to over 200 “adopted” units of deployed U.S. military service members, serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and conflict regions, by sending care packages containing needed items. The deployed units receive monthly shipments until they return home. Operation: Care and Comfort then adopts another unit to take their place. This year the Iron Construction Charity Golf Classic raised $58,000.00 exceeding the goal for the event by over 15%. Over the past three years, the Iron Construction has raised in excess of $116,000.00 for this Red Cross program.
The event, which was open to the public, hosted 186 players on Cinnabar Hills 3 courses. Over 30 volunteers ensured the event ran smoothly. In addition to Iron Construction, Frank-Lin Distributors was a major sponsor of the event. Other sponsors included B Metal Fabrication, Comerica Bank, Alcal Roofing and Decker Electric.
